Phasmophobia fans have a new reason to jump back into the game! A fresh update for May 2025 has just arrived. This hotfix patch (version 0.12.1.1) doesn’t bring new ghosts or maps, but it fixes many bugs and makes the game feel much smoother and more fun to play.
In Phasmophobia, you play as a ghost hunter, going into spooky places to find out if a ghost is there. You collect evidence, stay safe, and try to figure out what kind of ghost it is. The game started on PC in 2020 and came to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2024. It’s very popular and has sold over 20 million copies.
This new update solves some weird problems that players noticed during the Cursed Hollow event. For example, players were placing their tools on Jackalope nest eggs, which wasn’t supposed to happen. Now, that’s fixed! Another fix helps the Obake ghost — it can now shapeshift during special events, just like it should.
The update also makes the game’s sound and controls better. Now, the sound works when you open the Cursed Hollow leaflet. Voting for maps also works correctly again, and players using VR can be attacked by ghosts once more, which was missing after a recent update. This was an important fix for fans who love the game in virtual reality.
There were some graphic problems too, like missing terrain textures in the Point Hope map and strange things happening when ghosts were near the player. All of these are now fixed. Some players had issues with controller sensitivity, but this patch makes it better.
However, there is still one small problem. The developers said that lighting glitches might still happen on some maps during the event. They are watching this and will fix it soon. The good news is that more big updates are coming in 2025! The team at Kinetic Games shared a roadmap that shows new features, new maps, and fun seasonal content coming in the future.
T-rated game Phasmophobia also hit a cool new milestone. Over 3 million copies of the game have now been sold on PlayStation, PS VR2, and Xbox. That means the game is not just spooky, it’s super successful too!
