Skate Reboot Confirms Early Access in 2025, But No Offline Mode for Players

The new Online Game Skate, made by EA and Full Circle, has some good news and some bad news for fans. The good news is that the Skate reboot will enter early access in 2025. The bad news is that the game will not have an offline mode when it launches. This news made many longtime fans a little sad because the older Skate games could be played without the internet.

Skate will be a free-to-play game with microtransactions, which means players can spend real money to buy special things in the game. The world of Skate, called San Vansterdam, will be an always-online place that will keep changing and growing. Players will see live events and updates that will make the city feel alive. The developers said that they want the game to feel like a “living, breathing, massively multiplayer skateboarding sandbox,” which is why it must stay connected to the internet all the time.

The developers also shared that players who join the Skate Insiders program will be able to test parts of the game later this year. In fact, more playtest invites will be sent out in June 2025. This will give many fans the chance to try the game before it fully launches.

The company also talked about San Van Bucks, the in-game money players can buy. If someone spends money during the playtest, their bucks will carry over to the early access launch. For example, if a player spends $20 during testing, they will still have $20 worth of San Van Bucks when early access begins. The developers said the money from San Van Bucks will help them keep making the game better and bigger, and they promise to make it fair for everyone.

Some fans are unhappy about the game not having an offline mode, but there is still excitement because players will get the chance to explore a new city, take part in live events, and be part of a growing game world. EA and Full Circle said they will share even more news about Skate’s early access and future updates in the coming months.

Even though there are some worries, the excitement for Skate is still very strong. Fans have been waiting a long time since Skate 3 came out back in 2010, and now they are closer than ever to skating again in a brand-new world.

Skate is available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
