Fans of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are excited to see it coming to the new Nintendo Switch 2, but there’s a surprise — the price is higher than before! The new Switch 2 version of the game will cost $69.99, which is $10 more than the original game on the first Nintendo Switch back in 2017.
Even though the game is over 8 years old, the Switch 2 edition does not include all the extra content. If players want the Expansion Pass, which adds more missions, items, and fun challenges, they’ll have to pay $20 more. That brings the total cost to $90 if you want the full experience. That’s a lot for an old game!
The good news is that this new version has some cool upgrades. It will run better on the Switch 2 and work with a new feature called Zelda Notes. Zelda Notes will help players track their progress and unlock achievements using the Nintendo Switch app. So even though it costs more, the game does offer some new things.
But here’s something even better: if you already own Breath of the Wild on your old Switch, you can get the Switch 2 version for just $10. That’s a great deal! And if you are part of Nintendo Switch Online with the Expansion Pack, you might not have to pay anything at all for the upgrade.
Many fans are not happy that the game doesn’t come with the DLC (downloadable content). The DLC includes two expansions: The Master Trials and The Champions’ Ballad. These add a lot of fun to the game, like a new dungeon, special items, a cool motorbike called the Master Cycle Zero, and even a tougher Trial of the Sword challenge.
In the past, Nintendo would sometimes make older games cheaper. But this time, they are asking for more money for a game that many people already played years ago. Still, Breath of the Wild is one of the most loved Zelda games ever, with high review scores and millions of happy players.
So, is it worth paying again for a game you may already own? That’s up to each player. But one thing is clear — Zelda fans are always ready for a new adventure, even if it comes with a higher price tag.
